Warden Heriarchy.

because i keep thinking of this, i need to just kinda babble about it.

work with me–

the warden commander of insert country/city hereis a title given to someone of important status to watch over a corner of the country that the main boss cannot. the warden commander of ferelden/orlais/free marches/whatever is the highest you can achieve, being the one that everyone has to report to no matter what the cost is. but it’s a bit straining to have them as the only one when these nations are so massive. you can’t keep up with your men and women if you’re the only one.

“but senior wardens are those who command a group!” but that’s a really stupid title and you’re a lieutenant. those placed under your command are only going to see you as a lieutenant and not give you the designated respect you so deserve at first. especially in some fantasy settings.

“wardens are small, they aren’t all over the place.” lies. all lies. if you look at it, wardens are a military force. each rank is given with respect and each rank shows your importance and blablabla. but each nation is HUGE.saying that there are like an estimate of 200 wardens in one given nation is ridiculous and why? why is this a thing? bio ware, stop that.

the free marches is a collection of large city-states. the kingdom of ferelden has to be be about the same. the anderfels and orlais– well, that’s pretty obvious. there have to be many (if not hundreds) of recruits who just gohunting to find these men and women.

so why set to one designated area when you can have several large keeps in conveniently placed areas?

station it with a commanding group with a title of the area of their homeland and fit them with a makeshift keep in a vague area that connects to several areas. ie: hercinia’s keep probably mans the eastern portside and connecting countrysides all the way to wycome (and possibly estwatch). that would be the keep of that area. or a keep in hasmal that may be the main keep and has sub areas in the next city to deal with over flow or handle business they can’t tend to.

for example (using my warden cousland and amell oc): maella cousland is the commanding officer of the fereldan keep. her proper title would be first commander where alistair therin is the warden commander of ferldan as a whole and would be seen as "warden-commander." above the both of them would be shaye amell, who sits at first warden of the fereldan states. the levels of position are important, but never fleshed on because of the haphazard thought process of the southern states not quite caring about the rules the anderfels put into place..

SO TL:DR;

the warden commander of insert city/state = local commander and not as stressed out individual. probably quick to helping out the people no matter what because they aren’t doing much just kinda wasting time until they are really needed.there are a bunch of them.

the warden commander of insert nation here = the big boss. the main chief. the person done with everyone’s bullshit and their second in command the first commander of insert nation here.
